Only a few short years ago, Salma Hayek Pinault was an unknown name. Today, the actress is one of the most well-known names in Hollywood. Many only know of Hayek from her work on the films Grown Ups andFrida. However, there is far much more to the actress than meets the public scope.
Hayek Pinault has spent the last decade acting as an advocate for countless women and children across the globe. The interview between Jay Kernis and Hayek Pinault revolved around her efforts to raise awareness on certain topics, including relief after natural disasters, assisting refugees in the Middle East, and advocating for women and children.
I tend to gravitate towards Hayek Pinault, not only because of her efforts of attempting to raise awareness for heart-wrenching issues of those who lack a voice, but also that she doesn’t take no for an answer. She is persistent and driven in all things she sets her mind to do, even if that means confronting someone of the most powerful people in industries about their wrongdoings. The advocate also is always humble about her work and will never do anything for “just good publicity.”
This is a good feature story overall because it shines a light on the behind-the-scenes work that Hayek Pinault carries out. Often times, the spotlight of famous actors/actresses revolve around their social lives or their wardrobe. However, Kernis was able to weed out the superficialness and focus on issues that actually matter and have an impact on the world around us.
